McDaniel College and Business School Form Partnership
A new partnership will give eligible alumni of and current undergraduates in the Department of Economics and Business Administration at McDaniel College, a private liberal arts college in Westminster, Md., preferred admission to four master’s degree programs at Duquesne’s Palumbo-Donahue School of Business.
The four master’s degree programs include:
- The Professional Master in Business Administration (PMBA)
- The Master in Business Administration-Sustainable Business Practices (MBA-SBP)
- The Master of Science in Accountancy (MAcc)
- The Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MS-SCM).
“McDaniel College’s focus on preparing students to enter the business world with confidence and a sense of purpose aligns very well with our emphasis on The Business of Difference Making™,” said Dr. Dean McFarlin, dean of the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business. “We offer an attractive portfolio of graduate business programs that include built-in, impactful consulting projects with corporate partners.”
Duquesne is recognized for having much to offer graduate students, including the flexibility that makes grad school more accessible, a horizon-expanding education and an academic mission that embraces the importance of being a valued citizen of Pittsburgh.
“We are an AACSB-accredited business school—the gold standard in business education and a distinction that only 6% of business schools worldwide have earned,” McFarlin said. “And because McDaniel College students are committed to excellence, they are a great fit for our school. They will do very well in our graduate business programs and emerge as ethical business professionals who make a difference.”
McDaniel undergraduates must earn a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and submit Duquesne admission materials to be eligible for preferred admission. Accounting, business administration, economics, international business or marketing majors with a minimum 3.25 GPA will receive a GMAT/GRE waiver. Additionally, McDaniel students accepted to Duquesne’s one-year MBA-SBP program will receive a scholarship of at least $5,000.
For the PMBA, a minimum of at least a B- is required in certain coursework to receive fundamental course waivers. Students desiring admission to the MAcc program must achieve both an overall 3.0 GPA in accounting coursework and complete specific pre-requisite courses.
Eligible McDaniel alumni who graduated within the past five years also have access to these benefits.
“We are proud to partner with Duquesne to provide new opportunities for our business majors and recent alumni who are looking to attend a graduate business school,” Dr. Julia Jasken, executive vice president and provost at McDaniel College, said. “This agreement also helps to reduce barriers by providing waivers and even a scholarship, making Duquesne a very attractive post-graduation option for our students.”
