Benefits Fair, Info Sessions Set for Open Enrollment

As the Monday, April 19, kickoff of Duquesne’s 2021-2022 benefits open enrollment period draws near, eligible employees can make the most of their health plan by taking advantage of activities and resources offered by the Office of Human Resources.

Virtual Benefits Fair PosterEmployees can learn together and chat with experts, attend a seminar and win prizes at the Virtual Benefits Fair Wednesday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Topics include everything from medical plans to tuition benefits, dental and vision plans and more.

Registration is open for upcoming Cigna or UPMC information sessions at MyLEAD in DORI. Two sessions for each medical plan will provide a thorough overview of the plan, including provider network, prescription formulary, preventive care services, member resources and more.

The 2021-2022 Benefits Overview workbook will be available only online for most employees. During the next month, employees and their spouses should review their current medical needs and the changes to the University’s benefits options as outlined on Page 2 of the 2021-2022 workbook, including an increase to the working spouse fee for all medical plans.

Employees not making any changes must still complete the open enrollment process by Friday, May 21. The 2021-2022 benefits plan year begins Thursday, July 1, and runs through Thursday, June 30, 2022.

Changes to medical, dental, vision and life insurance benefits can only be made for most employees during the open enrollment period. Additionally, flexible spending accounts (medical, limited and dependent care) and purchased vacation days (if eligible) will not carry over and can only be selected at this time for the 2021-2022 plan year.

Employees who cannot attend the Virtual Benefits Fair or an information session can schedule an individual meeting with a member of the benefits team by emailing benefits@duq.edu or calling 412.396.5106.
