Review Benefit Changes, Complete Open Enrollment

Duquesne employees eligible for the University’s benefit plan offerings are reminded to review all changes and complete the open enrollment process by Friday, May 21.

HR BenefitsOpen enrollment is the only time most employees can make changes to their benefits for the upcoming 2021-2022 plan year. All new benefits selections will begin Thursday, July 1.

The 2021-2022 Benefits Overview workbook details information about the University’s benefit plan offerings, including the following medical plan changes:

  • Premium price increases for Cigna HDHP, UPMC HDHP and Cigna OAP medical plans.
  • Premium price decrease for UPMC EPO but an increase in the medical plan deductible and out-of-pocket maximum.
  • Cigna OAP and UPMC EPO medical plan copayment increases for the following services:
    • Office visit, outpatient behavioral health visits
    • Specialist, urgent care, chiropractic services
    • Rehabilitation, pulmonary, cardiac and speech therapy
    • First maternity services office visit
    • Emergency department visit (copay waived if admitted)
  • Copayment increases for 30- and 90-day supply of generic prescription drugs for Cigna OAP and UPMC EPO Prescription Drug Plan-CVS Caremark.

Employees who are unsure about choosing a benefits plan can watch informative sessions from Cigna and UPMC representatives about all of the University’s medical plan offerings under the new Watch & Learn section at duq.edu/benefits.

The Office of Human Resources benefits team also can assist employees who have questions about their specific medical needs. Employees can schedule an individual meeting by sending an email to benefits@duq.edu or calling 412.396.5106.
