Africa Week 2021 Celebrates Traditions and Perspectives

This week, the Duquesne community can experience African culture through food, film, music and presentations during the annual Africa Week celebration.

Center for African Studies - Africa Week 2021 - The Center for African Studies invites the Duquesne community to join in celebrating Africa Week 2021, a series of virtual and in-person events highlighting African traditions and perspectives. Tuesday, September 14: African Resiliency 12 to 2 pm Virtual presentation. Featured Speaker: Dr. Obiageli "Oby" Katryn Ezekwesili, Senior Economic Adviser of the Africa Economic Development Policy Initiative. Wednesday, Sept. 15 Marketplace 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Academic Walk and virtually. The marketplace features various local vendors and live music. Thursday, Sept. 16 Movie Night Featuring Disney’s ‘Soul’ 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Africa Room in the Union. Attendees will enjoy free Chick-fil-A and can enter a raffle to win PLUS dollars. Hosted by the Center for African Studies, the series of in-person and virtual events offers community members the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of African heritage and perspectives.
