Forum to Reveal Truth About Spanish Conquest of the Aztecs

Faculty and staff are invited to attend the Department of History’s 53rd annual forum, which will explore how the history of the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire was built upon deception.

Dr. Matthew Restall

The event will take place Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Power Center Ballroom with a reception to follow in the Shepperson Suite. The forum is free and open to the public.

This year’s forum speaker, Dr. Matthew Restall, is director of Latin American studies at Penn State University. Among his 30 books is the prize-winning myth buster, When Montezuma Met Cortés: The True Story Behind the Meeting That Changed History.

The forum serves as an example of Duquesne’s commitment to expanding educational horizons for the campus community.

For more information, visit the department’s site  or contact the forum’s director, Dr. John “Jay” Dwyer.
