From I Got Rhythm to Someone to Watch Over Me, Broadway composers gifted the jazz community with a large part of its standard repertoire through the Great American Songbook. In turn, jazz musicians have reworked these classics and made them their own. This concert will present how both sides have influenced one another.

The Uptown Jazz Series features jazz styles from Duquesne faculty, visiting artists and ensembles. As a genre, jazz has always broadened the scope of music. This ensemble, as both teachers and working musicians, offers Duquesne students a horizon-expanding education.

General admission tickets are $10 at the door. Visit the series’ website for more information.
