Faculty & Staff Spotlight

What have Dr. Sara Baron and Dr. Marie Smith-East been up to?

Dr. Sara Baron, University librarian, was honored Sept. 29 as a community award winner by the Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration and Innovation (PALCI) for her outstanding service.

Baron led the organization’s Implementation Task Force for a report created by the Future Framing Task Force that included a new mission, vision and values for PALCI.

Dr. Marie Smith-East, clinical assistant professor and director of the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, was featured on the Nov. 1 Oprah podcast.

During the podcast, Smith-East explained that there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to mental health treatment for teens and young adults, and further encouraged parents to stay educated and persevere in finding providers that are a good fit for their children.

Research and creativity from staff and faculty such as Baron and Smith-East make their classrooms and learning environments exciting places.
