CETR Hosting Fall Working Session for Faculty

The Center for Community-Engaged Teaching and Research (CETR) will host a fall working session for faculty focused on alignments between learning objectives and community learning experiences as well as its second conversation about community-engaged research.

On Thursday, Nov. 6, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., the session From Objective to Evidence will address the strong alignment of learning objectives, community learning experiences and student learning assessment. RSVPs are requested; the session will meet at the CETR office in the Murphy Building located at 20 Chatham Square.

In addition, 2014-2015 Gaultier Faculty Fellow, Dr. Eva Simms, will host How Do We Build an Institutional Language and Nomenclature for Community-Engaged Research? on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from noon to 1:30 p.m.

This session will discuss:

  • Whether the principles included in the recent Community-Engaged Research Seed Funding Grants Call for Proposals are sufficient to create a definition and characterization for this work at Duquesne
  • Whether these principles are contested in any way
  • Ways of introducing faculty and community colleagues to this form of research.

RSVPs are requested for these sessions, which are intended to build an interlocking group of faculty researchers at work in the community.
