Screening of ‘The True Cost’ to Wrap Up Human Rights Film Series

The True Cost, a documentary that explores the human costs associated with the fashion industry, will conclude the 2016 Human Rights Film Series, which has focused on the theme Silence to Solidarity.

The 2015 film, which will be screened on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. in Room 105 of College Hall, dives into the discussion of why social responsibility and eco-ethical fashions are so important.

Following the screening, Charles Kernaghan, director of the Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights (GLHR), and GLHR Associate Director Barbara Briggs will speak about the film as well as the state of human rights in manufacturing around the world. Kernaghan is the country’s leading anti-sweatshop advocate and has traveled all over the world to research abuse of workers’ rights.

The Human Rights Film Series, which is free and open to the public, is presented by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. For more information, call 412.396.6415.
