Grants Received

Funds totaling $334,080 were recently received by the School of Law, the Center for Student Involvement, the Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences (BSNES) and the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts.

  • School of Law, $25,000, from the Robert S. and Louise S. Kahn Foundation, to support an outreach of the Veterans Clinic called the Pre-Trial Diversion Module, which will facilitate criminal legal representation of qualifying veterans at the pre-trial phase of a criminal case in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County. The Hon. Maureen Lally-Green, dean of the School of Law, will administer the award.
  • Dr. Alia Pustorino-Clevenger, director of student life assessment and co-curricular community engagement, Center for Student Involvement, and the Lambda student organization, a $2,000 SWPA LGBTQIA Inclusive Schools grant, from THRIVE of Southwestern Pa., to convene Greater Pittsburgh Higher Education Gender Sexuality Alliance mini summits throughout the year.
  • Dr. Benedict Kolber, associate professor of biological sciences,  BSNES, and Dr. Rachael Neilan, associate professor of mathematics and computer science, McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, $307,080, from the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, for research.
