Uptown Jazz Series

The music of Ray Brown, Tommy Turrentine, Roy Eldridge and other Pittsburgh jazz legends will highlight Local Legends: Pittsburgh Potpourri, Part One on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the music school’s PNC Recital Hall.

Jazz Studies Director Mike Tomaro is both artistic director of and a saxophonist in the Uptown Jazz Series, which features School of Music faculty and guest artists.

This year, the School of Music is partnering with non-profit Pittsburgh Creators’ Project, which promotes composers, choreographers, photographers, filmmakers and others who are from or have ties to the greater Pittsburgh area. Prior to each concert in the series, Pittsburgh Creators’ Project will exhibit work in the PNC Recital Hall lobby.
