19th Annual Katie Westbrook 5K & Dog Walk to be Virtual
Registration is open for the law school’s 19th annual Katie Westbrook 5K & Dog Walk, which will be held virtually and in conjunction with the school’s online Public Interest Law Association Auction.
The event is held each year in memory of Katie Westbrook, a local girl whose dream at age 13 was to become a lawyer. Westbrook suffered from a rare bone cancer and passed away at age 15, just before she was to be presented with an honorary degree from the School of Law.
The virtual race, which is open to the University community and the public, is being held through noon on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Proceeds will benefit the Public Interest Law Scholarship Fund, which provides law students the opportunity to participate in 10-week placements with organizations offering direct legal services to low-income and underserved clients.
Registration is $5 for students and $10 for others. Visit the Katie Westbrook 5K & Dog Walk webpage for details, include the race rules, registration and more.
