Bookstore Manager Recognized by Barnes & Noble for Campus Leadership

Duquesne University bookstore manager John Kachur is one of just five individuals recently selected nationally to receive the Barnes & Noble Campus Leadership Award.

Kachur, who was chosen from more than 700 Barnes & Noble managers, was presented with the award at the organization’s annual conference on April 10. The Campus Leadership Award is the highest honor that Barnes & Noble can bestow, and recognizes outstanding service to a campus and leadership within the recipient’s store.

“John would do just about anything for Duquesne University and his team, and it is clear how much he truly loves people and how much they love him back,” said John Chaump, regional manager for Barnes & Noble, during the award presentation. “It is this caring attitude and service orientation—with a lot of wit and humor thrown in—that makes John such a deserving recipient of the 2018 Campus Leadership Award.”

Kachur has been manager of the Barnes & Noble Bookstore and Café at Duquesne University for more than 11 years.

Scott Richards, assistant vice president for auxiliary services, said Kachur is known for his great campus relationships and committed involvement across the University in providing service and partnership opportunities to support institutional goals.

“John is such a valued business partner of the University who provides exemplary service across campus to faculty, students and staff of Duquesne,” explained Richards. “His commitment to the University makes him so deserving of Barnes & Noble’s recognition. We’re fortunate to have such a devoted bookstore manager whose daily efforts align with the University mission.”
