Stay Healthy and Earn Wellness Dollars with New Program

The Office of Human Resources has partnered with Cigna, UPMC Health Plan and The Center for Pharmacy Care to offer University employees a comprehensive new Wellness in Motion program.

As part of the new program, employees who participate in either a University Cigna or UPMC-sponsored medial plan can earn reward dollars by completing healthy activities throughout the upcoming benefits plan year. Dollars earned can be applied to out-of-pocket medical costs, like deductibles and coinsurance.

Unlike the previous wellness program, both employees and their eligible spouses may participate. Each can earn up to $300 during the 2018-2019 benefits plan year.

While the University offers one “Wellness in Motion” program, both medical plans offer customized, online wellness platforms: a Cigna’s MotivateMe platform and a UPMC Health Plan’s HealthyU platform. Employees can begin by creating a profile on their medical provider’s member portal.

The new program, which is designed to make it simple for employees to take an active role in their health, includes a wide variety of activity options to earn wellness dollars—from losing weight, eating better and enjoying exercise, to controlling stress, quitting tobacco use and managing certain chronic conditions.

Information sessions will be offered in April and May to provide employees with an opportunity to learn more about how Wellness in Motion works with Cigna’s MotivateMe and UPMC Health Plan’s HealthyU. Employees can register for the information sessions via MyLEAD in DORI.
