Broadcast E-Mail Services Available; Procedures Revised

On the first Monday of every month, approximately 30,000 alumni and parents receive the Bulletin From Our Bluff e-newsletter. Constituents of many schools and departments receive e-mails about events, news and programs on a regular basis.

These services are facilitated by the Offices of Alumni Relations and Advancement Communications. Broadcast e-mails can reach large numbers of constituents at little cost, but these benefits present challenges as well as opportunities. New policies and procedures will encourage schools and departments to take advantage of broadcast e-mail while respecting the concerns of recipients.

The guidelines specify that:

  • Any given constituent will receive no more than two broadcast e-mails in a week. Submissions will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis within this limitation. The Bulletin From Our Bluff, other periodical e-newsletters and alumni relations communications will receive priority.
  • Requests should be submitted at least three business days prior to the desired transmission date.
  • Whenever possible, news items, announcements and events should be included in a general or role-specific section of the Bulletin From Our Bluff rather than sent as stand-alone broadcast e-mails

A new online form has been developed, making it easier to submit electronic communications requests. Visit www.myduquesne.duq.edu/newssubmission to view the submission form and read the complete terms and policies.  For more information, contact Patti McVey, advancement communications officer, at 412.396.6048.
