Faculty & Staff Spotlight

Dr. Pat Arneson, associate professor of communication and rhetorical studies, won the James Madison Prize for Outstanding Research in First Amendment Studies from the Southern States Communication Association (SSCA). Her article, Considering Social Divisiveness: Offensive Communication, Historical Fiction, and The Help, was recognized and published in First Amendment Studies.

Arneson also received the Top Competitive Paper Award from the SSCA’s Philosophy and Ethics of Communication Interest Group for her paper titled The Benevolent Sentiment: Considering The Moral Sense in Tymieniecka’s Phenomenology of Life, presented at the SSCA’s annual conference April 10-14 in Louisville, Ky.

Jacob Rooksby, assistant professor of law, has been named a contributing editor for highereducationlaw.org, a blog on legal issues that arise in higher education. His first blog, published on April 14, addressed universities and gene patenting.
