Summit to Address Trends, Aspects of Chemical Dependency Treatment

The latest trends regarding the various aspects of the treatment of chemical dependency in the Western Pennsylvania area, including prevention strategies for chemically dependent patients, will be addressed at Duquesne’s Chemical Dependency Summit on Wednesday, May 15, from 2 to 5:30 p.m. in the Wolfe Lecture Hall of the Bayer Learning Center.

Hosted by the Mylan School of Pharmacy and the University’s Forensic Science and Law Program, the summit will:

  • provide an overview of how interpreting laboratory reports can fit into the identification and treatment of chemical dependency
  • offer guidance about the various approaches to drug diversion prevention programs of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Attorney’s office
  • explore early identification and referral for treatment strategies.

Speakers at the summit include Dr. Fred Fochtman, director of the Forensic Science and Law Program at Duquesne University; Dr. Neil Capretto, medical director a Gateway Rehabilitation Institute; and a representative from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Western Pennsylvania.
