Gumberg Hosting Performance Featuring Sacred Music Collection

The campus community is invited to attend a special performance featuring works from the University’s Sacred Music Collections on Friday, Oct. 4, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit.

Hosted by Gumberg Library, the special concert includes both faculty and student performers from the Mary Pappert School of Music. The event is being held in conjunction with the Atlantic Chapter and the New York State-Ontario Chapter of the Music Library Association meeting that will be held at Gumberg Library on Friday, Oct. 4, and Saturday, Oct. 5.

Selections include music from the Boys Town Collection and by various composers and performers such as Paul Manz, Allen Hobbs, Richard Proulx, David Craighead, Jean Langlais and Duquesne University composers Joseph Willcox Jenkins and Zvonimir Nagy.

According to Dr. Ann Labounsky, professor and chair of organ and sacred music, these collections are an inestimable source of richness and represent a microcosm of the history of Sacred Music.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 412.396.1542.
