Duquesne Presents Honorary Law Degree to Costa Rica President

Costa Rica President Luis Guillermo Solís was presented with an honorary law degree on behalf of the University and the School of Law during his visit to campus on Sept. 27.

Solís was honored during a special ceremony that included guests Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and City of Pittsburgh Chief Urban Affairs Officer Valerie McDonald-Roberts.

President Charles J. Dougherty conferred the honorary degree upon Solís, who delivered remarks. In addition, Law Dean Ken Gormley presented Solís with a small, stained-glass replica of the School of Law’s official seal.
