TAPs Amended to Address Working with Minors; New Volunteer Policy Approved

Volunteerism and outreach to young adults and children are important aspects of the University’s identity as a Spiritan institution. With the vast number of programs hosted on campus, Duquesne complies with federal and state legislation as well as best practices in working with minors.

To better continue its compliance practices, the University has amended The Administrative Policy 50 – Protection of Minors to include an addendum that details requirements for Duquesne University programs that involve minors. These requirements commonly involve clearances and training related to child abuse.

In addition, a policy has been developed on the use of volunteers. This new policy clarifies the roles and responsibilities of volunteers, specifically those volunteering in settings involving minors.

These policies are effective immediately.
