Duquesne is Only PA School Among Nation’s Most Efficient Top Universities

Long in the top tier of national U.S. News & World Report rankings, Duquesne was the only school in Pennsylvania also named as one of the most efficiently operated schools.

The rankings highlighted public and private colleges that scored the highest overall on undergraduate academic-educational quality while relatively spending less on educational programs to achieve that quality.

Duquesne was No. 18 on the list of national universities, based upon a calculation of the school’s 2013 fiscal year financial resources per student divided by its overall U.S. News ranking score.

“Schools that are featured on these lists are doing a good job in managing their financial resources relative to other schools that may have far greater financial resources because of more state funding, higher tuition or larger endowments,” said U.S. News.

In addition, nationally ranked schools listed are especially “likely to be more affordable in terms of tuition than others in the same category,” according to U.S. News.

Only the operational efficiency of schools in the top half of their ranking categories were considered by U.S. News.

Duquesne was the only Pennsylvania school listed in the top 25, along with the Catholic institutions of DePaul University and Boston College.
