Dr. Henk ten Have, director of the Center for Healthcare Ethics, is serving as editor for the Encyclopedia of Global Bioethics, published by Springer Publishing Co. The 12-volume encyclopedia, which will be available in electronic and print versions, will be released in 2016. Ten Have also served as co-editor of Springer’s four-volume reference series, The Handbook of Global Bioethics, published in 2014 and examining the incorporation of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization principles in 40 countries.

Dr. Matthew Hyland, assistant professor of history, delivered the lecture A New Deal for Old Key West: A Case Study of Preservation and Populism, to members of the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation on Feb. 17. The talk focused on how economic revitalization during the Great Depression was driven by the preservation of history, with local residents becoming vested in preservation practices and steeped in local history, lessons that remain relevant.
