Division of Management and Business Announces Several Promotions and a Restructuring

David Beaupré, vice president of management and business, announced several promotions and a restructuring within the division. The promotions and restructuring are a result of the Voluntary Retirement Program (VRP) and are expected to save the University $425,000 annually. The promotions recognize the hard work and accomplishments of the individuals and the savings come from positions eliminated as a result of the VRP.

In the Department of Public Safety, Michael Kopas has been promoted from sergeant to captain. As captain, he will be responsible for the uniform patrol section. Kopas succeeded Robert Brown who retired at the end of December after 12 years of service to the University. Replacing Kopas on the midnight shift is Daniel Baker. Baker has been promoted from officer to sergeant as commander of the midnight patrol shift. Baker has been a police officer with the University for 13 years.

Scott Richards has been named executive director of auxiliary services. As a senior member of the finance and business team, Richards will provide leadership and guidance to all areas of auxiliary services, which include dining, parking, bookstore, shuttle service, vending, campus banking services and the DU Card Center. For the past 19 years, Richards has been the associate director of auxiliary services. Richards succeeds Dave DiPetro, who retired at the end of December after 34 years of service to the University. Additionally, Denise Iuzzolino has been named associate director of auxiliary services and will be responsible for assisting with the coordination of all facets of the auxiliary services enterprise. Iuzzolino has worked in the auxiliary services area for the past 17 years as the manager of the DU Card Center and most recently as the assistant director of auxiliary services.

In the Office of Student Accounts, Bobbi Penz has been named manager of student accounts and will provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to the office. Penz succeeds John Sucha who retired at the end of December after nearly 31 years of service to the University. Additionally, Karen Hartupee, formerly senior accounting clerk II, has been promoted to assistant manager and Sherri Snyder, formerly accounting clerk, has been promoted to senior accounting clerk II.

Annie Jackson has been named manager of accounts payable, succeeding Debbie Novak ,who retired at the end of December after more than 26 years of service to the University. Jackson will provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to the accounts payable office. Jackson worked in the accounts payable office for 10 years during the ’80s and ’90s and most recently as a senior accounting clerk in the office. Additionally, Nicole Reynolds and Jeromy Eakin have both been promoted to senior accounting clerk.

Alex Orosz, formerly the buyer in the purchasing office, has been named manager of purchasing and will oversee the day-to-day purchasing and p-card functions. Orosz succeeds Linda Roos who retired at the end of December after 24 years of service to the University. Additionally, Cynthia Douglas has been promoted to buyer in the purchasing office, formerly serving as an office assistant III.

Kathy Karner has been promoted to senior accounting analyst in the controller’s office. Karner succeeds Yvette Gamble, who retired at the end of December after 44 years of service to the University.

Bonnie Watson has been promoted to senior budget analyst in the planning and budget office and Brandon Deal, formerly a budget analyst in the planning and budget office, has joined the controller’s office as an accounting analyst.
