Coffee House Reading Series to Feature Noted Poets Sherrill and Waldrep

Renowned authors Steven Sherrill and Dr. G.C. Waldrep will be the featured presenters at the next Coffee House Reading Series event on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. in the Genesius Theater.

Sherrill is a novelist, poet, painter and musician whose first book, The Minotaur Takes a Cigarette Break, has been translated into eight languages. His second novel, Visits from the Drowned Girl, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

Waldrep, an associate professor of English and the inaugural Margaret Hollinshead Ley Professor in Poetry and Creative Writing at Bucknell University, has written four award-winning, full-length poetry collections. His work also has appeared in journals such as Poetry, Ploughshares, Boston Review, Colorado Review, Gettysburg Review and New American Writing.

The Coffee House Reading Series, which is sponsored by the Department of English, features the literary works of Duquesne students alongside those of established and emerging writers.
