The award, named for Duquesne’s 10th president, the Rev. Henry J. McAnulty, C.S.Sp., is the highest non-academic honor the University bestows upon its graduates. Eligibility is limited to Century Club members. Staley, a member of the Century Club Class of 1983, is only the 25th recipient of the McAnulty Service Award.

A native of Pittsburgh and graduate of Central Catholic High School, Staley received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Duquesne in 1965. He earned a Master’s of Business Administration from Northwestern University, became a Certified Public Accountant in 1966 and began his career as a supervisor with Bachrach, Sanderback & Co. Moving to Federated Research Corp. in 1969, he became the firm’s president 10 years later.

Staley headed Federated Research until 1994, when he formed Staley Capital Advisors, a private investment management firm serving high net-worth individuals and institutional clients. The firm also is involved in corporate merger and acquisition advisory activities.

Staley served on the Duquesne University Board of Directors and remains an emeritus member. He previously was a member of the Alumni Board of Governors and the Century Club executive committee. A steering committee member for both the Spirit of the 90s and Advancing Our Legacy capital campaigns, Staley remains an active advisor to University officials.

Staley and his wife, Patricia, are the benefactors of one of Duquesne’s largest endowed scholarship funds, providing aid to business students based on need and academic merit.

In addition, Staley has served on the board of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation and has supported a variety of civic and philanthropic causes, including the Crossroads Foundation, St. Anthony School Programs, the Children’s Institute and Little Sisters of the Poor. An advisor to business schools at Duquesne, Northwestern and Florida Atlantic University, Staley sits on the investment committees of the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh and the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
