Staff, Faculty, Alumni and Friends Gather at Dougherty Reception

More than 500 Duquesne staff, faculty, alumni and friends attended the April 27 reception held by the Spiritans and the University’s board of directors to honor President Charles J. Dougherty and his wife, the Honorable Sandra L. Dougherty.

The Very Rev. John Fogarty, C.S.Sp, superior general for the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, and Marie Milie Jones, chair of the board of directors, both delivered remarks at the reception. Dr. Carla Lucente, associate director of the Center for International Relations and Honorary Consul of Italy/Pittsburgh read and presented the Doughertys with a proclamation on behalf of the consulate of the Consulate of Italy Pittsburgh.

Guests also watched a video presentation in which University staff and faculty shared their memories and thoughts of Dougherty, who then addressed the crowd, thanking many for their assistance and service during his tenure as University president.
