Two Associate Law Deans Appointed

School of Law Interim Dean Maureen Lally-Green has appointed two new associate deans to her administrative staff. Martha W. Jordan has been named associate dean of academic affairs, and Dr. Jacob H. Rooksby has been named associate dean of administration at the law school.

“It is a great privilege for our law school community, and certainly for me, to work daily with these two splendid leaders,” said Lally-Green. “Both bring great wisdom to all they do. We are all blessed to have their talent and their dedication serving our students.”

In her new role, Jordan oversees all academic affairs and policies. An associate professor, she joined the law school faculty in 1992 and teaches courses in property, federal taxation and estate planning. Jordan’s scholarship includes issues on estate planning, property law and the law of historic preservation.

Jordan has served on various law school committees and chaired the Faculty Recruitment Committee. She is a member of the Preservation Pennsylvania Board of Trustees and a previous board member for the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation as well as the Landmarks Financial Corporation.

She has a B.S. from Memphis State University, a J.D. from the University of Arizona Law School and an LL.M. from the University of Denver Law School.

As associate dean, Rooksby advises Lally-Green on administrative issues. Also an assistant professor, he teaches torts, intellectual property subjects, law and higher education, corporate governance, and social media and the law. Rooksby’s scholarship focuses on the impact of intellectual property law and policy on higher education. He joined the law school faculty in 2012.

Rooksby is of counsel at Cohen & Grigsby, P.C., and is president of the Pittsburgh Intellectual Property Law Association. His book The Branding of the American Mind will publish later this year. Rooksby has an A.B. from The College of William and Mary, and earned an M.Ed., a J.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.
