Faculty & Staff Spotlight

Dr. Pat Arneson, professor of communication and rhetorical studies, delivered the keynote address Untangling Knots: Conflict, Law Enforcement and the Black Lives Matter Movement at the annual meeting of the 2016 Carolinas Communication Association, Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

Dr. Ronald C. Arnett, professor and chair of the Department of Communications and Rhetorical Studies in the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, was awarded the Paul H. Boase Prize for Scholarship from Ohio University on Sept. 19.

Dr. Andrew Simpson, assistant professor in the Department of History, won the 2016 Stanley Jackson Prize from the Journal of the History of Medicine and Allied Sciences for his article Transporting Lazarus: Physicians, the State and the Creation of the Modern Paramedic and Ambulance, 1955-1974. The award recognizes the best article published in the journal by an early career author in the past three years.
