Cukanna Named Vice President for Enrollment Management at Duquesne

Paul-James Cukanna, has been named vice president for enrollment management at Duquesne University, effective Nov. 1. He previously served as associate provost for enrollment management at the University.

In this role as the chief enrollment officer of Duquesne University, Cukanna will continue to oversee enrollment planning, projections and implementation. In addition, he is now a member of the President’s Cabinet for which he provides input and strategic guidance.

“I am honored to be appointed as the first vice president for enrollment management at Duquesne,” said Cukanna. “President Gormley quickly realized that the University needed to reorganize administratively so that we can be better positioned to become even more competitive in the higher education marketplace. This action will allow us to proactively address an array of enrollment challenges that continue to confront selective institutions nationally. Our strategic response to these challenges and opportunities will shape our University for years to come.”

Cukanna first joined Duquesne as director of institutional research in 1997. He was named executive director of domestic and international admission in 2002.

He began serving as associate provost for enrollment management in 2008.

He resides in Pittsburgh’s East End. Cukanna holds a B.S. in science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, master’s degrees in public policy and in industrial administration from Carnegie Mellon University, and a master’s in liberal arts from Duquesne University.
