Political Science Conversation Will Address Manipulating Elections

The Duquesne Political Science Research Series will feature the upcoming discussion Manipulating Elections: American & Russian Meddling in Foreign Democracies.

The discussion, slated for Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in Room 644 of College Hall, will feature Guest speaker Dr. Dov Levin. A post-doctoral fellow in the Institute for Politics and Strategy at Carnegie Mellon University, Levin’s Ph.D. dissertation concerns the causes and effects of partisan electoral interventions by the Great Powers, attempting to find why such interventions occur and determine their effects.

“Dr. Levin’s presentation could not be more timely,” said Dr. Clifford Bob, professor and chair of political science and the Raymond J. Kelley Endowed Chair in International Relations. “He places the allegations of Russian interference in last year’s presidential election in the context of a long history of such interventions in foreign democracies, by both Russia and the United States.”

Manipulating Elections is free and open to the public. Co-sponsors include the Duquesne Politics Club, Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society and the Raymond J. Kelley Endowed Chair in International Relations.
