PSO Composer of the Year to Conduct Free Performance

Members of the campus community are invited to hear Duquesne’s premier choral ensemble, the Voices of Spirit with conductor Dr. Caron Daley, perform under the direction of composer Sir James MacMillan for his song Strathclyde Motets on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 3 p.m. in the University Chapel of the Holy Spirit.

Recently selected by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) as its Composer of the Year, MacMillan will also participate in extensive outreach and education work including the upcoming conversation on faith and music, Music and the Sacred: How a Composer Approaches Music, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 9, at 4 p.m. on the third floor of the Mary Pappert School of Music. This performance is presented by the Center for Catholic Faith and Culture as part of its Catholic Artistic Imagination Series.

Both events are free and open to the public. Registration is required for Music and the Sacred by emailing ccit@duq.edu. For more information, visit the Center for Catholic Faith and Culture’s website.
