Human Rights Film Series Explores Plight of the Homeless, Migrant Workers

The campus community is reminded that The Homestretch, a powerful film that focuses on adolescent homelessness, will be shown tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. in Room 105 of College Hall as part of the University 10th annual Human Rights Film Series, For the Sake of Humanity.

Peggy Harris, president and chief executive officer of Three Rivers Youth, will be the featured speaker immediately following tonight’s screening.

The film series will feature the free screening of East of Salinas, a documentary that tackles the issue of the education and lifestyle of migrant labor workers in the United States, on Monday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. in Room 105 of College Hall. Following the film, Dr. Jorge Tapia-Ortiz, visiting assistant professor of Spanish, will speak briefly and answer questions.
