Students Talk About Immigration as Civil Discourse Series Continues

Duquesne University students had the opportunity to have candid discussions about immigration on Feb. 27 with the Hon. Ronald Wilson, former chief presiding judge for the City of South Tucson in Arizona.

Wilson gave remarks at the event and also facilitated a question-and-answer session as part of Immigration and The American Dream, which was held as part of a new civil discourse series initiated by Duquesne President Ken Gormley.

At age 33, Wilson became the first full-time African-American chief presiding judge in Arizona history and the youngest chief judge in the United States. In that role, he processed and adjudicated more than 100,000 cases, many of which dealt with immigrants. Recognized as an advocate for social justice, Wilson is internationally known for his work and contributions to assisting the marginalized and underserved.
