FAST Program Helps Freshmen, New Transfer Students Transition to Duquesne

Incoming freshmen and new transfer students will have the opportunity to visit campus next month and begin their transition to college life before the fall semester begins by attending the Freshman Advisement Summer Transition (FAST) program.

Scheduled for Tuesday, July 11, through Friday, July 14, FAST is an optional program for new Duquesne students looking to kick-start their college experience prior to the start of classes. The annual program, hosted by the Office of Freshman Development, typically draws more than 2,000 attendees.

Biomedical engineering, business, education, health sciences, and natural and environmental sciences majors are invited to spend the day on campus on July 11 or July 13. Liberal arts, music, nursing and pharmacy majors are invited to visit on July 12 or July 14.

During FAST, students can get a head start on their Duquesne experience by:

  • Meeting their academic advisors
  • Learning more about health services, financial aid, tuition deferment, campus safety and security, and student activities
  • Having a student ID photo taken
  • Setting up a student bank account
  • Ordering/purchasing textbooks and a computer
  • Connecting with future classmates.
