Donations Needed for Duquesne Career Closet Initiative

An exciting new initiative that will help students obtain appropriate interview attire as they transition into the professional world is scheduled to be up and running for the start of the fall semester.

Nicole Feldhues

The Career Closet, a collaboration between the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Career Services and Spiritan Campus Ministry, is now accepting donations of new and gently used business professional clothing.

When entering a job interview or a career fair, much of one’s first impression is based on appearance, according to Director of Career Services Nicole Feldhues.

“The impression our students make is crucial, especially during interviews and networking events,” Feldhues said. “The Career Closet will ensure that any Duquesne student is able to ‘dress to impress’ at their next career-related event.”

Jeffrie Mallory

Jeffrie Mallory, director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, describes the Career Closet initiative as a sustainable resource to enhance the student experience, community involvement and distinguish Duquesne from other institutions.

“It is truly unique because it touches everyone—alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents,” Mallory said. “It highlights our University’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, and is true to our mission statement.”

Located in the Spiritan Campus Ministry office in Towers, the “closet” will be available to all students within the University community. Donations can be dropped off at this location during regular business hours.
