Open Forums Slated during Middle States Evaluation Visit

Duquesne University is currently undergoing its decennial review by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). As part of this process, the University will host an evaluation team on campus.

This team is comprised of eight (possibly nine) senior academics and administrators from institutions (very broadly) similar to Duquesne:

  • Dr. Conrado Gempesaw, president, St. John’s University (NY)
  • Eric Almonte, director of development, Drexel University
  • Brian Rose, vice president for student affairs, SUNY Binghamton
  • Dr. Eileen Lynd-Balta, associate provost, Saint John Fisher College
  • Dr. Michele Monaco, associate professor, Immaculata University
  • Dr. Lauren Mounty, vice president for enrollment management, Iona College
  • Julie Rosner-Lengele, controller, Arcadia University
  • Dr. James Trainer, associate vice president and executive director, Office of Planning, Villanova University
  • Dr. Bonnie Kirkpatrick, assistant vice president and dean of administrative services, Wilmington University

The evaluation team will arrive on Sunday, March 25. They will hold extensive meetings and open forums throughout Monday, March 26, and Tuesday, March 27, and deliver its oral report to President Ken Gormley and senior leaders of the University before leaving late in the morning on Wednesday, March 28.

Members of the campus community are invited to attend one of the following open forums:

  • Open Forum for Faculty, March 26, from 3 to 3:50 p.m. in Power Center A/B
  • Open Forum for Students, March 26, from 5 to 5:50 p.m. in the Africa Room
  • Open Forum for Staff, March 27, from 3 to 3:50 p.m. in Power Center Room A.

Light refreshments will be served at the faculty and staff forums. At the student forum, light refreshments will be available before and during the session, and a taco dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

The MSCHE believes that an institution’s decennial review should involve all members of its campus community. It is the administration’s hope that, even though the evaluation team is visiting us in Holy Week, students, staff and faculty will do their best to attend the forums and participate in the discussions.
