Summer Construction, Renovation and Improvement Projects are Underway

The Department of Facilities Management has started work on a variety of summer projects that includes construction, renovations and improvements throughout campus.

Current projects include:

  • Installation of a clean room into the existing renovated lab for the Biomedical Engineering program on the fourth floor of Libermann Hall.
  • The start of a multi-year project to replace aging HVAC equipment in Libermann Hall.
  • Existing restrooms on the first floor of Rockwell Hall will be renovated and expanded to comply with ADA Accessibility Guidelines. In addition, the first-floor corridors will be upgraded, including the flooring, lights, wall finishes and ceiling. Facilities will also replace all floor- and ceiling-mounted fan coil units as part of the first floor’s HVAC upgrades.
  • The Boyd Street sidewalk will be replaced and include new curbs and brick bands. New light poles will also be added.
  • The final phase of the Administration Building Admissions renovations will include a new reconfigured back office area and completion of the upgrade to the main corridor.
  • The existing ceiling, lights, wall and floor finishes will be replaced in the fifth floor corridor of the Administration Building.
  • As part of the Koren Building fire protection modification, existing sprinkler heads will be moved from above the ceiling into the ceiling tiles.
  • Room E103 in Fisher Hall will be converted into a combination laboratory and classroom.
  • Upgrades to the Law Library’s three restrooms will include new quartz counter tops with under mount sinks, faucets, mirrors, partition, lighting and flooring.
  • Repairs will be made to the Cooper Building’s structural support system under the existing sidewalk, and a new concrete sidewalk and curb will be installed. A temporary ramp will be installed to provide access to the front entrance of the building during the restoration.
  • A complete renovation will be done to the chemistry lab in Room 312 of Mellon Hall.
  • The upper roof of the Union will be replaced.
  • Rooms 608 and 609 of the Union will be converted to the new Seifert Suite.
  • Facilities will begin a three-year project during which the ceilings of the ramps on both the east and west side of the Union will be repaired.
  • As part of annual preventive maintenance, sections of the Forbes Avenue Parking Garage will undergo cleaning, sealing and striping of the driving surface. Sections of the Locust Street Parking Garage exterior will undergo pre-cast panel cleaning and sealing.
  • The Forbes Avenue Parking Garage elevators will be totally upgraded—one at a time.
  • HVAC, fire protection and corridor upgrades to the first, second and third floors of College Hall will include replacement of the main air handler unit and distribution system and installation of new heating distribution piping; new corridor ceilings with LED lights; and a new total fire protection sprinkler system. (The fourth, fifth and sixth floors will be done in the summer of 2019.)
  • Sink counter tops, faucets, vanity/mirrors, acrylic shower wall panels and ceiling tiles will be replaced in the sixth floor bathrooms of Vickroy Hall. In addition, LED light fixtures will be replaced and fresh paint added.
  • All 350 of Vickroy Hall window sills will be refinished.
  • St. Martin Hall corridor flooring replacement will include the installation of new carpet tiles. New luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring will be put in the elevator lobbies. Student room flooring in the residence hall will be replaced with LVT flooring.
  • As part of the Assumption Hall Stevenson St. wing upgrades, the bathrooms will be expanded and include new counter tops, showers, toilets, partitions, flooring, ceramic tile walls and LED lighting. Each floor will have a private ADA Accessible bathroom. New fresh air make up and exhaust systems will be installed.
  • The first floor storage area of the Des Places residence hall will be converted to house mailing services, which will move from the sub-ground floor of Rockwell Hall.
