Reminder: Register by Oct. 18 for Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

There’s still time to register for the ninth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.

The two-mile walk starts at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 18, on Academic Walk near the Union. A prayer will precede the walk at 11:45 a.m. The event is co-sponsored by the University and the Theta chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Registration for the walk is $20 for employees and $10 for students. Employees who sign up with someone who did not walk in last year’s event pay a discounted rate of $35 for both walkers. Proceeds will be donated to the University’s United Way Campaign and designated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Making Strides through the American Cancer Society.

Raffle tickets will be available for purchase, and vendors will be selling items to benefit the cause. Registered walkers who are survivors or currently fighting cancer will receive a special gift at the registration table when the walk concludes.

To register, participants can either:

• Download the registration form and return the completed form and registration fee to the Office of Greek Life in Room 315 of the Union
• Complete a registration form and pay in person at the Office of Greek Life in Room 315 of the Union
• Register on the day of the event beginning at 11 a.m. on Academic Walk outside the Union.
