‘Becoming American’ Screening Explores Economics of Immigration

The fourth installment of Gumberg Library’s Becoming American: A Documentary Film and Discussion Series on Our Immigration Experience will focus on immigrant labor’s key role in American economics.

The free screening of Help Wanted? Immigration and Work will be held Monday, Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 104 of College Hall. Dr. Emad Mirmotahari, associate professor of English in the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts, will lead the evening’s discussion.

Online resources are available for anyone interested in learning more about the movie’s historical and scholarly context.

Funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Becoming American series provides participants an opportunity to explore both the history and impact of immigration in the United States. Duquesne University is the only Pennsylvania institution to be awarded the grant.
