Duquesne MBA No. 5 in the U.S., No. 13 Globally According to Corporate Knights

Duquesne has been recognized by Corporate Knights in its 2018 Better World MBA Ranking. Among the 40 schools listed, the University’s MBA Sustainable Business Practices program is ranked No. 5 nationally and No. 13 internationally.

“To be consistently ranked by Corporate Knights among the top business schools is a testament to the quality and caliber of our MBA Sustainable Business Practice program, faculty, staff and students,” said Dr. Karen Donovan, associate dean of graduate programs and education in the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business. “Our experiential curriculum enables students to integrate sustainability into solutions for organizational partners to drive innovation and bottom line results—an increasingly important and sought-after skill by corporations.”

For this year’s ranking, Corporate Knights assessed 141 business schools across 25 countries, including the top 100 schools on the current Financial Times global MBA ranking. Schools were graded on the following indicators:

  • The number of institutes and centers dedicated to sustainable development
  • The percentage of core courses that integrate sustainable development
  • Faculty research publications and citations on sustainable development themes
  • Faculty gender diversity
  • Faculty racial diversity.

“Integrated management—including environmental, social and governance performance—is the key driver of innovation and profitability in progressive companies and business schools, and an important part our own curriculum here at Duquesne,” added Dr. Robert Sroufe, the Murrin Chair of Global Competitiveness.

Duquesne was ranked in the top five U.S. schools behind Fordham University, MIT, Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Vermont.

“This ranking shows which business schools are stepping up to the plate to unleash the power of business as a force for good in our world,” Toby Heaps, chief executive officer of Corporate Knights, Inc., said. “We applaud all of this year’s Top 40 Better World MBA school winners for their leadership.”
