Paluse Grant Recipients Hail from Diverse Disciplines

Six Duquesne faculty members have been awarded Paluse Faculty Research Grants from the Center for Catholic Faith and Culture.

The Paluse Grants provide university-wide internal funding to support scholarly research that reflects Duquesne’s mission and identity.  The center received a record number of applications this year.

This year’s recipients reflect a diversity of scholarship:

  • Associate Sociology Professor Dr. Norman Conti: Among Brothers and Keepers: White Supremacy, Mass Incarceration and Chosen Family
  • Associate Education Professor Dr. Gretchen Generett and Assistant Education Professor Dr. Amy Olson: Identity, the Principle of Participation, and the Right to Reputation
  • Assistant Professor Dr. David M. Kahler, Center for Environmental Research and Education (CERE) with Assistant Professor Dr. Plaxedes Chitiyo, CERE, and Dr. Benjamin Goldschmidt, assistant professor of biomedical engineering: Water Security as an Issue of Social Justice in Tanzania.

Funded from an endowment for the late Rev. Richard V. Paluse, the awards support research and scholarship that reflect Duquesne’s mission and engage resources in the Catholic intellectual tradition. The grants are open to all full-time faculty.
