Grants Received

Funds totaling $26,773 were recently received by the Small Business Development Center, the Bayer School of Natural and Environmental Sciences (BSNES), the School of Nursing and the Rangos School of Health Sciences.

  • Small Business Development Center, $18,273, from the Lawrence County Regional Chamber of Commerce, to support the business outreach program in Lawrence County.
  • David Kahler, assistant professor in the Center for Environmental Research and Education, BSNES, a $4,500 internal Paluse Grant, for Water Security as an Issue of Social Justice in Tanzania.
  • Yvonne Wideman, clinical assistant professor, School of Nursing, a $2,000 Faculty Course Development Grant, to support the development of a course aimed at providing students with the opportunity to study and experience the health care system, culture and society of Costa Rica.
  • Drs. Amy Mattila, Jaime Munoz and Megan Blaskowitz, Department of Occupational Therapy, Rangos School of Health Sciences, a $2,000 internal Faculty Course Development Grant, to support the development of a three-credit elective course providing health science students with the opportunity to study and experience global health issues by participating in an international spring break field experience in Scotland.
