Pittsburgh Technology Council Names Tom Dugas CISO of the Year

Tom Dugas, assistant vice president and chief information security officer (CISO), has been named the Pittsburgh Technology Council’s 2019 CISO of the year.

Tom DugasDugas was one of four finalists in the CISO category for the council’s CIO of the Year: Technology Illuminated Awards, which were presented March 21 at Pittsburgh’s Westin Convention Center.

“I am quite honored and blessed to have been chosen the 2019 CISO of the Year. This is a tremendous recognition of the work that Duquesne University has completed as we mature our information security posture,” Dugas said. “This award would never be possible without the team in CTS, our distributed IT staff and all the members of our community.”

At Duquesne, Dugas leads the information (cyber) security program to protect the availability, confidentiality and integrity of data and systems. He also is responsible for leading and managing the Identity and Access Management and Data Governance initiatives.

In addition, Dugas is a co-leader of the Greater Pittsburgh CISO Group, sits on the advisory board for the Pittsburgh CIO Forum and is a member of the governing body of the Pittsburgh CIO Executive Summit. He also is affiliated with various committees for EDUCAUSE, Internet2, KINBER and the E&I Higher Education Cooperative.
