The symposium featured more than 170 poster presentations by students representing 48 different institutions from the country and Puerto Rico.

The symposium is held in conjunction with the annual 10-week Undergraduate Research Program, which this year provided 108 students with essential research experiences for careers in STEM-based fields. The experience also helps students compete for doctoral opportunities, gain acceptance to professional schools and obtain future careers in industry. In addition to research activities, the program includes community engagement projects, a seminar series and an ethics forum.
