BSN Grads Achieve a 94.38% NCLEX-RN Exam First-Time Pass Rate

The School of Nursing graduating class of 2019 achieved a 94.38% first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN).

The NCLEX-RN exam is a standardized test that every state regulatory utilizes to determine whether a candidate is ready to become licensed as entry-level nurse. The 94.38% first-time pass rate accomplished by testers from Duquesne University surpassed the national average of 88.07%. This also marks the fifth consecutive time that Duquesne grads have outperformed the national average.

“We are immensely proud of our recent Duquesne nursing alumni on their strong NCLEX-RN pass rate of 94.38%,” said Nursing Dean Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow. “It’s challenging to deliver a high-volume, high-quality program. I would also like to acknowledge the School of Nursing faculty and staff for their extraordinary efforts in achieving these excellent results.”

The NCLEX-RN exam is developed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), which works to develop psychometrically sound and legally defensible nurse licensure and certification exams consistent with current practice.
