Reminder: Law School Event Aims to Educate Public on Impeachment

As the presidential impeachment hearings continue in Washington, Duquesne’s School of Law will present a panel discussion on this controversial process.

Understanding Impeachment will be held at noon Thursday, Dec. 5, in Room 303 of the School of Law. Jane Moriarty, associate dean of faculty scholarship and professor of law, will moderate a discussion with constitutional law professors Bruce Ledewitz, Will Huhn and Jalila Jefferson-Bullock.

A goal of the conference is to help educate and correct some misunderstandings about impeachment, Moriarty said. She noted that many people do not understand the impeachment process, its constitutional origins or its complicated history in our democracy.

“At the law school, we believe there is an obligation to educate the public about legal issues that affect citizens’ understanding of and participation in democracy,” she said.

The educational, non-partisan event is open to all members of the campus community and the public and will be livestreamed.

Registration is not required to attend.
