Annual FAST Program for Freshmen, Transfer Students to Be Offered Virtually

Incoming freshmen and transfer students will still have the opportunity to learn more about life at Duquesne during the annual Freshman Advisement Summer Transition (FAST) program, but this year’s event will be held virtually.

2020 Freshman Advisement Summer Transition Program

Under typical circumstances, FAST, which is an optional program, is usually a day for new students to visit and become acquainted with campus. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, FAST will be offered to students and families online from Tuesday, July 14, through Friday, July 17.

“Traditionally, about 70% of our students attend the FAST program,” said Dr. Adam Wasilko, assistant vice president for student involvement. “We are looking forward to making the program accessible to all of our incoming students and families. We hope this program will help ease the anxieties of new students and their families as they join the Duquesne community.”

The FAST program will be offered for liberal arts, education, nursing and pharmacy students on July 14 or 16. Biomedical engineering, business, music, health sciences, and natural and environmental sciences students can participate on July 15 or 17.

By attending FAST, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet their academic advisor
  • Learn about health services, financial aid, tuition deferment, safety, security and student activities
  • Get their student ID
  • Set up a student bank account
  • Order or purchase books and a computer or laptop
  • Connect with fellow classmates
  • Take language placement exams (required for liberal arts and international business majors).

Visit the FAST website for more information on the program.
