Duquesne Welcomes the Class of 2024
With the help of more than 250 student orientation leaders and volunteers, approximately 1,100 freshmen moved onto campus Aug. 16-18 for the annual freshman orientation.
Donned in masks and gloves to ensure safety, volunteers assisted incoming students and parents with unloading belongings and escorting them to residence halls. This year’s move-in was held over three days instead of just one to support social-distancing practices and de-densify hallways and elevators.
The 2020 orientation, featuring the theme Ignite Your Light, includes online events and in-person, socially-distanced activities.
Upcoming orientation events include a carnival on Academic Walk, a virtual talent show, a socially-distanced graffiti dance, a virtual matriculation ceremony and virtual Mass of the Holy Spirit. Students also will participate in a promenade on Academic Walk, where freshmen will wear the prom attire they were unable to wear due to coronavirus cancelations.
