Annual Veterans Day Celebration Goes Virtual

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 22nd Annual Veterans Day celebration held Nov. 11 honored veterans virtually.

Hosted by the Office for Military and Veteran Students, the event featured the posting of colors by the Duquesne University Army ROTC Color Guard and the singing of the National Anthem by Mary Pappert School of Music student Dominique Theodore.

University Chaplain the Rev. Bill Christy, C.S.Sp., offered the Invocation and Office of Military and Veteran Students Director Don Accamando served as event emcee. President Ken Gormley gave remarks and introduced keynote speaker H. Lamont Gourdine.

The University has been consistently recognized for its support of veteran students, and works alongside veterans to help them meet their educational goals.

Proceeds from the event benefitted the Duquesne University Student Veterans Scholarship Fund, The Veterans Leadership Program of Western PA, Shepherds Heart Fellowship and Veterans Home, The Veterans Breakfast Club and the Friends of DaNang.
