Center for Career Development Launches DukesConnect

The Center for Career Development (CCD) and Office of Alumni Engagement are bringing students together with talented alumni practitioners through the recently launched DukesConnect, a LinkedIn-like virtual networking platform for the Duquesne community.

“DukesConnect is a tool that connects users to the hundreds of Duquesne alumni eager to advise and mentor,” said Martin Black, associate director of the alumni career network. DukesConnect also provides access to a robust searchable directory that includes contacts’ involvement in athletics, clubs and Greek life.

Akwasi Opoku-Dakwa, business ethics professor, recently worked with CCD to help create a virtual panel of alumni for his business ethics seminars. Through DukesConnect, he quickly found eager alumni to join the panel, who then connected with students by presenting ethical dilemmas from their work as real-life case studies.

“The platform helps students identify alumni who can help them with everything from resumes to industry requirements to company contacts. I joined the platform myself, am encouraging all my students to join and encourage my colleagues to check it out as well,” Opoku-Dakwa added.

The new tool reflects Duquesne’s dedication to preparing students for future opportunities by expanding their educational horizons.
